About the Onio System

An experimental, interactive realm to link to potential future projects.

Features

I believe good artwork is more than something to look at or listen to, I believe it creates an experience, and while I can't call the Onio.Cafe an experience yet, I aspire for it to become one someday.

Things get weird in space, like this cafe button:

    Sounds:

  • - Each planet (and the satellite) should produce its own sound when hovering the cursor over them.
  • - Clicking over empty space makes a twinkling sound.
  • - Clicking the sun pauses the background soundtrack.
  • - A "space ambience" slider at the bottom left of the page introduces spacecraft noises.
  • - For now, all sounds were sourced from the commercial-free platform 'Pixabay'.
  • Links:

  • - Each planet should have its own link. Unknown planets link to an error page.
  • - The satellite object in outer orbit links to this satellite.
  • - The blue planet with one moon links to 'Onio.Cafe' - this is the first planet to have its own destination.
  • Visuals:

  • - Aside from the satellite, all visuals are generated with code. This website is made with a combination of HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
  • - Hovering over a planet turns the cursor into a spaceship emoji.
  • - Hovering over a planet lights up its orbital path.
  • - Hovering over empty space turns the cursor into a shooting star emoji.
  • - Clicking over empty space produces sparkles from the shooting star.
  • - Hovering over the sun enlarges the sun and turns the cursor into a star emoji.
  • - There are small twinkling lights and moving lights in the background.
  • - There is a mild pulsating nebulous haze behind the solar system.
  • - There are 8 moons in the solar system, each with their own orbital path.
  • - There are 37 asteroids, each drawn by code.

Facts:

First release was February 26th, 2025
Nearly all visuals generated by CSS and HTML
Absolutely created to distract myself from my actual work
Space is completely silent and orbital paths aren't perfectly round (I took creative license in creating my solar system.)
